LARGE FORMAT TILE

A decade ago you could find a 13 x 13 laid in most homes, business entry ways and just about any floor you came across. Fast forward to 2025 and now large format tiles have hit the shelves in a big way. When we say large format tile we mean a tile that has more than 8 feet per piece, so for example a tile that is 24” x 48” or 48” x 48” is considered to be a large format tile.

These tiles are able to go on any floor, shower walls or regular wall as a statement piece. In our showroom at Allison Sales Flooring we have large format tiles installed behind our sales associates, so customers can see the beauty of these large tiles installed and in person.

One of the reasons these tiles are picking up in popularity is because of having less grout joints;therefore, giving an authentic look and feel of a slab of marble, granite, etc. These large prints come in patterns, which is perfect when trying to obtain that marble look with the veining going random throughout different pieces.

Large format tiles have the ability to copy what a slab of natural stone, concrete or even wood would look like. The printing technology used today for tiles has become so realistic that from the naked eye it’s hard to tell if that’s a porcelain tile or piece of marble. Instead of spending $$$$ on a slab of marble, homeowners can now spend $$ on a large format tile that gives off the same look and feel.

In conclusion, when looking to re-do your next space don’t overlook the large tiles in the showroom because they can be just as much if not even more of a showstopper than a 2x2 mosaic piece.
